23/02 @ 12:00 to 12:15 online - Code sharing, rolling back version, track changes, all this and more can appear difficult when the most used tool (Git) uses its own cryptic language. Let's decode that in 15min together.
Ever struggled with tracking changes in your code or collaborating without overwriting someone else's work? Git is the industry-standard tool for version control, but its cryptic commands can feel overwhelming at first. In this 15-minute session, you'll discover what Git actually is, why researchers and developers rely on it, and how platforms like GitHub and GitLab make collaboration possible. Through hands-on examples, we'll demonstrate some essential skills whether you're coding solo or working in a team. After this introduction material to get you started with Git will be provided. My name is Christian Toderascu, working as a PhD in computational mechanics at BATir, and I'm going to show you how I use Git.
